NEWS YEAR 2005 JANUARY-MARCH
BIG SCREEN WONDER WOMAN

Jeff Robinov, President of Production for Warner Brothers Pictures today announced that Silver Pictures, producer of the "Matrix" franchise, has signed Joss Wheldon of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" fame to write and direct the feature action adventure film "WONDER WOMAN" based on the DC Comics’ character. "We are excited working with Joss," Robinov said. "He brings great energy and creativity to the process. His work on "Buffy" makes him uniquely qualified to handle the "Wonder Woman" character.

"There is no one better than Joss to adapt the legendary "WONDER WOMAN" comic book character created in the 1940’s into a dynamic feature film for the 21st century audiences" producer Joel Silver added.

"Wonder Woman was the first great female superhero to emerge from the comic books and later inspire millions of fans in her television incarnation, but unlike her counterparts 'Batman' and 'Superman', this groundbreaking heroine has yet to be invented for the feature film arena."

"Wonder Woman is the most iconic female heroine of our time, but in a way, no one has met her yet" Wheldon said in a statement. "What I love most about icons is finding out what’s behind them, exploring the price of their power. There is a woman behind the legend who is very fascinating, very uncompromising and in her own way almost vulnerable. She’s someone who doesn’t belong in this world, and since everyone I know feels that way about themselves, the character clicked for me" he added.

Wheldon created the influential WB Network/UPN drama series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its’ spinoff "Angel". His other writing credits include the features "Toy Story" and "Alien: The Resurrection". He is in post-production on the Universal feature "Serenity" which he wrote and directed based on his short lived Fox drama "Firefly", and will begin work on "WONDER WOMAN" next. The film will be produced by Joel Silver and Leonard Goldberg. No firm mention has yet been made as to who the actress who will play the role of the Amazon Princess will be, rumors notwithstanding.

BIG SCREEN WONDER WOMAN

It's been announced by several news sites and television entertainment shows that the former producer of the successful "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series, Joss Weldon, has been asked to write and direct a film version of "WONDER WOMAN" by producer Joel Silver, who has done the "Matrix" saga. Silver was quoted as saying "it’s just a great, legendary comic-book hero, and it is one that kind of never has been brought back to life since LYNDA CARTER’s 1970’s "WONDER WOMAN" television series. I mean it’s a reinvention….Tim Burton reinvented 'Batman' after Adam West, and Richard Donner reinvented 'Superman' after George Reeves. It’s time to do that to "Wonder Woman". It’s a thing that could be

great if it’s done great. The idea is to try to find a way to make it, and I thought that Joss had a great idea, because he understands a kind of female superhero character, and also he’s great at what he does."

The film is being done by Warner Brothers, and insiders have said that Jessica Biel has been chosen to play the younger "Wonder Woman" and Kim Basinger the older "Wonder Woman".

Kim Basinger????? Well, we certainly hope that is just a pipe dream (shades of Cathy Lee Crosby) and that the producers come to their senses and offer the job of playing the older "Wonder Woman" to the ONLY PERSON IN OUR OPINION WHO IS QUALIFIED TO PLAY THAT ROLE, LYNDA CARTER!!!!!!!!

MAKE A WISH

Actress Constance Marie, who is part-hispanic, has mentioned in several recent interviews that when she was growing up in Los Angeles there were no latin actors that she could relate to. Then she discovered that LYNDA CARTER was also half-Mexican, and that knowledge made Constance believe that Latinos could be part of the social fabric of America.

Imagine her great surprise as she was being interviewed by Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America" when Lynda called her while she was on the air, and congratulated Constance on realizing her dreams. Constance said "Thank you so much… you have no idea what this means to me. Oh my God, I’m crying on 'Good Morning America'." Lynda was still in Baton Rouge finishing her role in the upcoming film "THE DUKES OF HAZZARD" as Pauline, Uncle Jesse’s girlfriend, and her calling in at such an early hour just shows the kind and loving nature that she has, which has made her the Superstar that she is today.

YEEHAW!

Scenes of the filming of the latest film that LYNDA CARTER is in, "THE DUKES OF HAZZARD" were seen on the "E! News Live" this evening. Lynda has been on location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana since early this month playing the role of "Pauline", Uncle Jesse’s [Willie Nelson] girlfriend, and the filming of an outdoor picnic was shown, where the cast was eating and dancing. Lynda was wearing her dark hair loose under a black cowboy hat, black t-shirt, the brown leather jacket she wore on the VH1 series "I Love the 70’s" and blue jeans and looked gorgeous, obviously enjoying herself chatting with the cast and square dancing with a good ole’ boy (lucky guy!)

The release date for the film is June 29, 2005, so ya’ll come see it, y’hear!
