Washington D.C. The special phone at Diana's Apartment is ringing in
the early morning.
Diana Prince
[LYNDA CARTER]
is called to join
Steve Trevor Jr.
[LYLE WAGGONER]
and Diana Prince and
Joe Atkinson
[NORMANN BURTON]
for an urgent meeting. Diana quickly spins into Wonder Woman and
within minutes she's at the I.A.D.C. headquarters. They are then
informed that
Evan Robley
[DAVID HEDISON],
an international thief wanted by the government, is in Palm Beach. |
|
• Steve Trevor Jr.:
"How'd you get here so fast?". |
|
•
Diana Prince:
"There's not much traffic at 6.00 A.M. in the morning". |
|
•
Joe Atkinson:
"Why has every crisis since World War II happened in the middle of my
beauty sleep?". |
|
•
Steve Trevor Jr.:
"You're not getting too old for this, are you,
Joe?". |
|
•
Joe Atkinson:
"I was too old for this before either one of you were born". |
|
•
The President:
"Thank you all for responding so promptly. This secret tape was made
yesterday at Miami. An hour ago, I.D. Analysis identified this man as
Evan Robley". |
|
•
Joe Atkinson:
"It's Robley all right, sir. I remember him from the time he stole the
nuclear plans from the French Navy". |
|
•
Diana Prince:
"Evan Robey has stolen just about everything from everybody". |
|
• Steve Trevor Jr.:
"If there were a thieves Hall of Fame, Evan Robley would be a charter
member". |
|
•
The President:
[Showing a tape featuring Robley in different disguises]
"Well said Steve. This
tape was sent by Interpol after Robley robbed the Bangkok Mint. You can
see him enjoying his ill-gotten gains. Apparently free of any fear of
apprehension. I'd like you to study his disguise. As far as I'm
concerned, he's the grand master. Not only of disguises, but
international thieves as well. [As the tape continues] This is the I.D.
he used to steal the rocket fuel formula from the top secret Turkish Air
base". |
|
•
Joe Atkinson:
"We got him that time, sir". |
|
• Steve Trevor Jr.:
"Yes, For about ten minutes. He escaped on the way to jail". |
|
•
The President:
"Well, he's in Palm Beach now. The millionaire's sandbox and I want you
to know he plays up to it. But I want to know exactly what he's up to.
Thank you and good morning. A good early morning" |
|
•
Joe Atkinson:
"Good morning, sir". |
|
• Steve Trevor Jr.:
"Good morning, sir". |
|
•
Diana Prince:
"Good morning, sir". |
|
•
Joe Atkinson:
"You think Robley is after something here in Washington?". |
|
• Steve Trevor Jr.:
"Why he would go to Florida". |
|
•
Diana Prince:
"I've got an idea, come on". |

From the
society pages of the Washington papers, they learn that
Queen Kathryn
[JULIET MILLS]
of Malakar is also in Palm Beach, guesting with her country's
Ambassador
Orrick
[JOHN COLICOS].
Queen Kathryn, the former Kathryn O'Reilly of Boston, married the
Prince of Malakar and she is now known as this generation's
"Cinderella." Upon her husband's death, she became queen, much to
Orrick's displeasure. |
|
Her tiny country is in financial trouble and she is willing to
leave the Malakar heritage, a diamond tiara and a ruby necklace, as
goodwill collateral for a loan from the United States. It is now
obvious why Robley is in Palm Beach -to steal the crown jewels. |
|
Diana and Steve go underground and obtain jobs at the Malakan
consulate -Diana as a domestic and Steve as president of the
American/Malakar Cultural Association. Robley, also in the consulate,
is posing as Count Diaz, a distant cousin of the late prince. The
queen refuses to believe this and asks for his true identity. He
'confesses' that he is an agent with the Inter-Agency Defense Command
and has been assigned to protect her and the royal jewels. When he
queries her on why she brought the jewels out of her country, he
learns that it was Orrick's idea. Also, Orrick has them hidden in a
safe in the queen's suite, rather than the vault. |
|
Diana and Steve, aware of what is happening, devise a plan.
They must get Robley off the consulate grounds so they can legally
take him into custody. Later that evening, in Robley's room, Steve
offers him millions of dollars in untraceable cash for the jewels.
Robley is interested but doesn't trust him. When Steve suggests he
follow him off the grounds to his contact, Robley gets suspicious.
Pulling a lighter-sized electronic gadget from his pocket, he pushes a
protruding button and a sudden puff of white vapor explodes in Steve's
face, shocking him unconscious. Bound and gagged, he hides Steve in
his bedroom. |
|
Diana finds Steve and just as she is about to rescue him, a
noise is heard. She quickly hides and two guards enter and carry Steve
to a basement cell. The queen is then informed that the so called
president of the Cultural Association is actually the infamous jewel
thief, Evan Robley. She is greatly indebted to the 'real' Robley for
his capture. |
|
Outside the queen's quite, Orrick, who hired Robley to steal
the jewels, orders him to do so immediately. The queen must appear at
the big reception without the jewels and thus the queen will be
disgraced and she will step down. |
|
Diana, still dressed as a maid, gains entry to the queen's
suite. She tries warning her but the queen refuses to believe and
reports her to the sentries. Diana is put under arrest but escapes,
whirls into Wonder Woman and fights off the guards. That evening, she
enters the suite again as Wonder Woman and explains who Steve and
Robley really are. The queen is distressed. She has taken a fancy to
Robley and refuses to believe he will steal the Jewels. At this point,
she goes to her wall safe and much to her dismay, the jewels are gone. |
|
Wonder Woman rescues Steve and they visit Robley, only to find
out the jewels he stole are phonies. He was tricked. Someone stole the
real jewels. The three band together and decide the queen must not be
shamed and she should not be forced to abdicate. |
|
Robley has an idea and invites Orrick to his suite for tea.
Orrick refuses to answer his questions as to where the real jewels are
and he cautions Robley to leave immediately. He reiterates the fact
Robley was paid handsomely and his reputation is not ruined as the world
thinks he stole the crown jewels. Robley then forces Orrick from his
suite. |
