Hamlin Rule
[MARTIN MULL]
a young rock superstar, and
Carl Schwartz
[DENNY MILLER],
dressed as a sheik and carrying a large gold basket, are performing
the Pied Piper segment of Rule's act. As the audience grows silent,
Rule begins to play a flute. The lit of the basket is pushed open
and a beautiful young girl, in a skin tight snake outfit, appears.
The audience goes wild. During this hilarious uproar, three girls
dressed in black leotards and masked, enter the arena manager's
office. A small sound device that has lens, a light and dials, is
aimed at the manager. The sound rays hit and he slumps forward
unconscious. They then empty the contents of the safe. This is the
third time the girls have been successful at a Hamlin Rule concert. |

Diana Prince
[LYNDA CARTER],
Steve Trevor
[LYLE WAGGONER]
and Joe Atkinson
[NORMANN BURTON]
are called to solve this robbery because of the highly sophisticated
device used to open the safe. A film of the concert is shown and among
the audience, dancing -in the aisle, is
Elena Atkinson
[EVE PLUMB],
Joe's daughter. He is completely distraught. He confides in Diana that
Elena was an honor student at UCLA until she got involved with the rock
music scene. Since the next Hamlin Rule concert is scheduled for Los
Angeles, Diana promises to visit Elena and have talk with her. |
|
Diana Prince: [Joe Atkinson knocks Diana's office door]
"Come in". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"You busy?". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Oh Joe, I was hoping it was you. How about a cup
of coffee?". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"I'm about to turn into a cup of coffee". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Diana, you're looking at an unhappy victim of the
generation gap". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"Your daughter Elena". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Nineteen". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"I think it's not so much a generation gap as it is a geographical gap.
She's still at UCLA, isn't she?". |
|
Diana Prince:
"I hope so. I guess so. She called me and asked for
a round-trip ticket. I sent it, looking forward to a chance to visit.
She was here yesterday...". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"You didn't tell me. I promised her to take her shopping when she came
home". |
|
Diana Prince:
"I said she was here, but you can hardly call it
coming home". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"You didn't see her?". |
|
Diana Prince:
"I saw her. This morning, on the monitor, when we
were watching the Hamlin Rule tape". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"You're kidding". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Apparently she went straight from Dulles and spent
the night waiting to buy a ticket to see him". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"That doesn't sound like Elena". |
|
Diana Prince:
"That's the only time I saw her". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"She must have taken the redeye back to LA this morning". |
|
Diana Prince:
"I'm sorry Joe". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"Diana, she was a 3.6 student before she fell in with that rock group.
Now there are letters from the Dean of Girls about failing grades. She's
taken to not answering my phone calls. And obviously the only reason
I've heard from her was because she wanted airfare. I don't know what to
do". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Look. Steve and I were going to the Coast, right?
". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"uh-hmm". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Why don't you take his place? I'm sure he won't
mind watching the store. That's what friends are for". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"You think so?". |
|
Diana Prince:
"I think so. Anyway, give him a chance to catch up
on all that paperwork that he loves so much". |
|
Joe Atkinson:
"That's great. I'll get packed". |
|
Diana Prince:
"Okay". |

At Rule's house in Bel Air, Hamlin Rule and Carl are discussing the
amount of money they have stashed from the previous robberies. Rule is
complementing himself for being so clever. |
|
Saturday morning, Los Angeles, California. Diana Prince and Joe Atkinson
arrive. While Joe has arrangements for a meeting with John Kelly, the
head of the Los Angeles I.A.D.C. office, Diana plans to go to Hamlin
Rule's mansion. |
|
Diana arrives at the house but is refused admission by the gateman. It
seems that Hamlin Rule is making interviews to apply for the
"Girl In the Golden basket".
The gateman asks Diana to get lost, since she's not in costume. Cut of
his sight, she whirls into Wonder Woman with full regalia including
cape, and within minutes she is inside the mansion. |
|
Elena is the chosen one. Back as Diana she starts looking for Elena.
She finds her in an upstairs bedroom, almost trancelike, listening to
flute music. After a short conversation, Diana realizes it is a lost
cause. Elena is staying with Rule, who promised to make her a star.
She will not go back to school or her father. After Diana leaves,
Hamlin Rule plays his flute and Elena enters in trance and that's when he
asks her who is Diana Prince and what kind does his father do. |
|
Back in the Los Angeles I.A.D.C. Headquarters, Diana and Joe are
discussing the details of the Washington report on that mysterious
device used in the robberies. |
|
Diana calls Elena at the University and her room-mate informs
her that she left to the Elura Recording Studio. Diana heads for that
studio. |
|
As
Diana gets to the studio she's led into a small recording-room, the door snaps
locked and a bank of bright lights go on, temporarily blinding her.
The only other person in the room is Rule. He asks her to sit down in a
chair, clamps lock her arms and legs. The melodic sound of a flute is
heard and Diana becomes trancelike. She refuses to answer Rule's
questions about her identity and her connection with Elena. This
infuriates Rule. As he leaves the room, he clicks a switch and Diana's
chair suddenly begins to spin. Slowly at first, but eventually the
chair gains such speed she spins into Wonder Woman. She breaks her
bands and leaps out of the chair. Then she confronts Carl and defeat
him. When Carl is knocked out, Wonder Woman finds between his clothes
floor plans for the Cleft Concert Hall, where Hamlin Rule is making his
next concert.
|
|
Back at the I.A.D.C Joe and Diana discuss what could it mean those
floor plans and what's the relation between the robberies and Hamlin
Rule, Carl and the female fans. |
|
At Rule's home he asks Elena to be his financial advisor.
Rule is now explaining sound waves to Elena and teaching her
how to rob box offices. Elena, realizing what she got into, wants out
but Rule brainwashes her with music. She only remembers what he wants
her to remember and she is now totally in his command. |
|
The evening of the concert, Elena and three girls enter the
manager's office. Joe Atkinson is posing as the manager. Wonder Woman
tries to stop the female robbers but she's gassed. |
|
During the robbery, Elena drops her bracelet which
bears the inscription, 'Elena, Happy 16th. Love, Dad.' Diana suspects
this was tone purposely and it is a message of help. |
|
In Rule's mansion, Elena is begging to be-released but Rule is
starting to program her once again. As she fights against the harsh
musical sounds, Joe and Diana arrive at the mansion. Diana excuses
herself and whirls into Wonder Woman. |
|
Although the guards put up a valiant fight, they are no match for
Wonder Woman. As she is about to rescue Elena Atkinson, Rule enters and aims
the sound gun at Elena. Wonder Woman must treat carefully now. Wonder Woman pretends
she's in trance but it's only a trick and she uses her tiara as a
boomerang to get the device off the hands of Hamlin Rule. |
