Tag Line: "ANSCHLUSS '77" Air Date: September 23, 1977. With a tip of the hat to the original incarnation of the series, the Nazis return - in a sense - in "Anschluss Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor inadvertently discover a plot by former Nazis to clone an exact duplicate of Adolph Hitler in the hopes of restoring him to power so that he will lead the remnants of their movement back to a position of world domination. The duo must find the location of the secret laboratory in which the experiment is being carried out and stop the procedure before Hitler lives again. "BERMUDA TRIANGLE CRISIS" Air Date: October 7, 1977. "Bermuda Triangle Crisis" presents Wonder Woman with a moral dilemma: a deadly weapons dealer is operating within the Bermuda Triangle and must be stopped, but if she's successful, then America will, in all likelihood, construct a nuclear facility within a few miles of Paradise Island, thus threatening her people. *** The timeshift of Wonder Woman from the 1940s to the 1970s did not happen without a few people complaining about it, but one of the biggest supporters of the change was, interestingly enough, Lynda Carter. "I think I was much better in the part when it was modernized," she told the press. "The series matured as we went along. [Besides, CBS] thought the World War II storylines were too limiting, with the only major villains being the Nazis. The thinking was that if we took it into the 1970s, there would be more to explore, from a creative standpoint." The decision to make the change was made by Warner Bros. executive Jerry Lieder. "It was a fresh approach," executive producer Douglas Cramer told journalist Herbie Pilato, ''which CBS thought would reach a wider audience. Because, at the time, the other superhero shows, like The Incredible Hulk and The Six Million Dollar Man, seemed, in comparison, more real, if you can imagine anyone saying such things about science fiction/adventure shows.".
