DESCRIPTION: Jean Shepherd started his career on radio in 1948 in Ohio. He came to WGBH-TV, Boston, in 1969, where he produced "Rear Bumpers" a series of short features that ended each day's programming. And that's what prepared the ground for "JOHN SHEPHERD'S AMERICA", a weekly series in which he told stories, visited interesting locations and met interesting people. The series started in 1971 with 13 episodes, following another 13 episodes in 1985. Lynda was featured on the second run of the series.

			TRIVIA:	[•] Shepherd was an amateur radio operator and his call sign was K2ORS. When operating as an amateur, he was known to use the name Parker.
				[•] Shepherd wrote a series of humorous short stories about growing up in the Indiana steel towns, many of which were first published in Playboy Magazine. The stories were later assembled into books, whose titles include "In God We Trust", "All Others Pay Cash" and "Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories". Some of those situations were incorporated into his movies.
