EPISODE SYNOPSIS: In a musical spoof lampooning the spate of corporate takeovers, Bob Hope ruffles the peacock's feathers by trying to wrest control of its network. Maybe he figures he's entitled: after all, Hope has headlined some 400 TV shows on NBC since 1948. Hope's first move is to raise funds for his bid (since even he, doesn't have that much money). So he stages a telethon, with help from Milton Berle, Lynda Carter, Mr. T and Danny Thomas. Meanwhile, back at the board room, a countermove to quash Hope's challenge is plotted by NBC Entertainment president Brandon Tartikoff. who appears as himself. Also appearances by President Gerald Ford, Lucite Ball, George Burns, Johnny Carson, Phyllis Diller, Phil Donahue, Elvira, Michael J. Fox, Michael Landon, Dean Martin, Ed McMahon, Tom Selleck, Ricky Schroder, Dick Cavett, Lee Iacocca and Bob's wife Dolores. The music and lyrics for this special were written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans, who collaborated on the Oscar-winning song "Buttons and Bows" that Hope introduced in 1948's "The Paleface."
