DESCRIPTION: "THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON" was the full name of the show during the years that Johnny Carson hosted from 1962 to 1992. For all but a few months of its first ten years of existence, Carson's "Tonight Show" was based in New York, New York. In May 1972 the show moved to Burbank, California, where it remained for the rest of its run.

This is Lynda's fourth appearance on "THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON".

Series Run: October 2, 1962 (First show hosting Johnny Carson, the series began on September 27, 1954) trough May 22, 1992 (Last of Johnny's appearances as host of the show, then he was replaced by Jay Leno).

EPISODE SYNOPSIS: Instead of the usual Johnny Carson monologue guest host Diana Ross sings "Ridin' High" and "The Boss". MUHAMMAD ALI discuss his decision to retire, possible movie career, his new organization, his meeting with Breznev, a fear of flying through thunder storms, his religions beliefs, his retirement party, his home in Chicago, and his feelings about Howard Cosell. LYNDA CARTER sings "WE ARE FAMILY", discuss  about her TV special, her husband/manager, a celebrity tennis tournament in Europe, demonstrates one of her vocal exercises, her dislike for parties, a fan that asked her to do a "WONDER WOMAN" feat, and then sings "SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH". GEORGE CARLIN talks about the 7 words you can't say on TV, his old New York neighborhood, writing his own material, and the people who will be touring with him. ALEX HALEY discuss about "Roots", his hometown in Henning - Tennessee, the public reaction to "Roots", and his upcoming venture with Norman Lear.
