The first time we were supposed to get together for an interview, Lynda-despite her Wonder Woman-ish powers-was suddenly laid low by a strep throat. Then, she went immediately into film production on an upcoming CBS television movie for next season entitled "The Last Song." Patience pays off. Finally, this vivacious and vigorously healthy superstar gave me the time necessary to find out her views on good health.

"Sorry we couldn't do the interview before," she said, flashing those electric blue eyes of hers with captivating warmth as we shared some Perrier water with fresh lime in her spacious kitchen. "But I was really feeling miserable there for a while. And then what with the `Last Song' in pre-production..."

How did this Arizona-born beauty get rid of her sore throat before beginning to shoot the show?

"I took vitamin C like crazy! Something like 1000 to 1500 mg every hour, and it got rid of the darn thing almost immediately. To me, you see, vitamins are essential."

As Lynda begins her litany-like chant about the vitamins she takes daily, she reaches into a nearby cabinet and produces a packet-by which she "absolutely swears. "

"I have these "Power Packs" by John Cole (who just happens to be Lynda's brother-in-law), and they've got all the vitamins and minerals you'd ever need. It tells you which pill contains which supplement-C. E, lecithin, calcium, zinc, whatever-and instead of having a million different bottles around the place, you just take one of these packets everyday and it covers what you need."

Gulp. The luscious Ms. Carter proceeds to swallow eight pills with just one healthy swig of her Perrier.... Too bad, I remark, there isn't one pill that contains every vitamin''

"Maybe so. But that particular pill would have to be the size of a basketball in order to get all the right amounts of minerals and vitamins! Besides, I kind of like the ritual of taking `em."

There have been times-rare ones when Lynda has been unable to "Power Pack" her existence with these supplemental goodies. Maybe she's been out on some location in the middle of nowhere, with nary a health food store in sight. Then what happens?

"My energy level just goes way, way down. I get tired all the time, no pep. The change is really noticeable."

When you read about Lynda Carter as a performer, whether it's on some stage in Las Vegas belting out any number of up-tempo tunes, or hostessing a TV variety show, the reviews are bound to include such adjectives as: "dynamo," "foot-stomping," "snazzy," "a seasoned pro with vitality up the kazoo," etc. Obviously, with the incredible pace she keeps, Lynda better not forget to take along those vitamin packets too often....

"I've always been conscious of treating the body respectfully-whether it's getting enough exercise, or eating the right things ever since I can remember. I run a mile and a half a day most of the time. I work out with light weights. I do 250 leg lifts in the morning with my husband (Ron Samuels).

And we usually get in at least two-to-three games of tennis a week. To me, when my body's feeling good, my mind feels good too. And so does my spirit."

As a couple, Lynda and Ron share mineral water in a fancy crystal pitcher every evening before retiring for the night another sign of respect for their bodies.

"Keeping the system purified from the inside out is certainly as important to good skin care as washing your face frequently with cold water," maintains this winner of such coveted beauty prizes as "Miss World - U.S.A." and "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World," awarded her by the London-based International Academy of Beauty. (Not to mention being listed on Mr. Blackwell's "Ten Best Dressed Women in America" and Helene Curtis's "Ten Best Dressed Women in America."

Why she's even converted her spouse to vitamins as well!

"He (Samuels) never used to take vitamins until I started buying them and practically shoving them down his throat. Subtly, of course. Now, he feels terrific when he takes them. And he doesn't feel that good when he skips a few days."

Indeed, it seems hard to imagine anyone being able to resist Lynda's powers of persuasion. Luckily, what she's pushing vitamins, minerals and good, healthy living habits-can do nothing but enhance a pennon’s day-to-day existence.

"Another thing I swear by," adds Lynda, pointing to several nicely flourishing plants, "is aloe vera." "If I cut myself, or burn myself, I put on some of aloe vera's juices, enzymes, or whatever they're called directly on the injured area and it heals unbelievably fast. And there are no scan, either."

Since Lynda has such an exquisite face, it certainly is nice to think that aloe vera has done its part to keep it that way.

"I don't know about the 'exquisite' part," laughs this natural glamour girl. "All I know is I'm thankful aloe vera's around. Just like I'm thankful vitamins are around too!"
