Date: April 28, 1976. In 'Fausta, The Nazi Wonder
Woman,' Hitler's hand-picked agent, Fausta Grables
(Lynda Day George), is sent to America to capture
Wonder Woman, using a kidnapped Major Steve Trevor
as bait. While Wonder Woman frees Trevor, she
herself is taken prisoner and brought to Nazi
Germany so that Hitler can learn the secret of her
powers. It is then up to Steve to mount a rescue
mission of his own. At the time that former beauty
queen Lynda Carter was portraying Wonder Woman, she
spoke to Starlog magazine about the virtues of the
show. 'It crosses the bridge between fun and
reality,' she explained. 'Wonder Woman has never

be doing the super job. There's such a fine line
between fantasy and reality in the show that it's
probably the most difficult role I'll ever play.'
And it's a role that she was seemingly born to play,
particularly when noting her nearly six-foot frame.
'In high school,' Carter noted in the same
interview, 'I was too tall to be in the pep squad,
too tall for a boy to feel comfort-able with on a
date and too tall to feel at ease anywhere.
Everybody used to tell me - sympathetically, I guess
- 'Don't worry, you've got what it takes - talent!
You'll make it.' Nobody showed me how, though, until
someone, I forget who, said, 'Study.' So I took up
music and singing.' The rest, of course, was
television history..." |
