"BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS"

DESCRIPTION: "BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS" was the name of 19 TV specials featuring competitions among teams of performers representing the three major broadcast networks: ABC, CBS, and NBC. Beginning in 1976, episodes aired every six months until May 1985, with a last one in December, 1988. It consisted of a two-hour sequence of physical challenges, which were real and sometimes even aggressively competitive.

Lynda participates as one of the stars of the ABC team in the very first of this twice-annual specials.

EPISODE SYNOPSIS: ABC, CBS, and NBC take their ratings war to the athletic field as 10 celebrities from each network participate in running, bicycling, swimming and obstacle-course relays, a tug of war, a baseball throw, tennis and one-shot-nearest-to-pin golf tournament. Lynda participates as one of the stars of the ABC team in the very first twice-annual show.

TRIVIA:
[•] Lynda only appeared on the first of the specials of "THE BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS".
[•] Though Lynda made several TV appearances prior to this special, not to mention her "WONDER WOMAN" series, it was thank to "THE BATTLE OF THE NETWORK STARS" and her famous wet one-piece swimsuit that everybody was talking about during those days.
[•] Lynda played in several competitions and sports-skills though on the TV special only two were shown: swimming and tug of war.
[•] At the end of the special Lynda pours champagne on Howard Cosell's head, though she claims she wasn't aware that he was wearing a toupee!!!!
[•] Richard Hatch, Penny Marshall, TELLY SAVALAS, LEE MERIWETHER, Mackenzie Phillips, and Robert Conrad would share the screen with Lynda Carter in another special "THE SECOND ANNUAL CIRCUS OF THE STARS".
[•] JOHN SCHUCK, of the ABC Team, went on to play Gilbert Pierce on the pilot for the "PARTNERS IN CRIME" series.
[•] GARY BURGHOFF, of the CBS Team, was Lynda's fellow bandmember on the band "THE RELATIVES" when they were on High School, but also he went on to play Alan on "THE MAN WHO WOULDN'T TELL" episode of the "THE NEW ADVENTURES OF WONDER WOMAN" series.
