ABC'S WIDE WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT

DESCRIPTION: The "MISS WORLD" beauty pageant was founded by Eric Morley in the UK in 1951. It started as the Festival Bikini Contest, in honor of the swimwear getting notoriety at the time, but was called Miss World by the press. In 1959, the BBC started broadcasting the competition. The pageant's popularity grew as the popularity of television grew. The "MISS WORLD 1972" edition was the year's third top rated program.

Lynda participated of the pageant as Miss World USA but ended up as a runner-up.

[•] Lynda didn't qualify for the finals and the results were as follows: Belinda Roma Green, Australia (Miss World 72), Ingeborg Sorensen, Norway (2nd), Chana Ordan, Israel (3rd), Ursula Pacher, Austria (4th), Malathi Basappa, India (5th), Tuula Anneli Bjorkling, Finland (6th) and Jenny McAdam, UK (7th).
[•] The contest took place in London on Friday, December 1, 1972 and the judges were: Donald West (Canada), Julio Rodriguez (Venezuela), Greg Borowski (USA), Michael Knit (Germany), Vanea Rabelo (Brazil), Jeannie Szorardi (Puerto Rico), Jose 'Pepe' Medel (Mexico), Rahul Patel (India), Marjukka Nieninen (Finland) and Ricardo Guiraldes (Chile).
[•] Two weeks after the pageant, and still in London, Lynda recorded her first promotional record, a double A-sided 7" single featuring  "It Might As Well Stay Monday" and "I Believe In Music".
