Article: Lynda talks about a supposed Hollywood black-list.
Author: None. Country: USA.
Wonder of wonders, LYNDA CARTER, television's own Wonder Woman, says "The casting couch is not dead. It's just camouflaged better."
According to LYNDA: "Acting often has nothing to do with getting star billing. And, if some of the women don't play along, their careers fade faster than a California sunset.
"There is a clique here, a group, and if you get better known or into the group and your name is talked about ... it's like a blacklist. But if you go to parties and you do this and you do that. Well . .."
Warming up to her subject, LYNDA adds: "Even though you are a good actress, some women have won Academy Awards and don't get work because of that group. They sit around and talk, 'Nah, we don't want her, she's with so and so,' or 'She's just one of the girls.' This clique of hiring people knows who is going with whom. And they pass women around like cattle. The women are used up." As for herself and her husband, RON SAMUELS, LYNDA claims: "We have a very small circle of friends. We play tennis. We are into wholesome kinds of things."
The question now remains-is LYNDA suggesting that Academy Award winners like BEATRICE STRAIGHT, LOUISE FLETCHER, and ESTELLE PARSONS haven't gotten "the parts" since their Oscar wins because they're "used up"?
