Cover summary: "Brook Newman's happy family life is shattered when her husband, an electronic inventor, is murdered and she and her daughter are terrorized. When Brook discovers one of her husband's tapes she realizes that she may hold the key to his murder. She travels to Landry, Texas where she uncovers a plot by the heads of Brockhurst Industries to cover up the fact that the toxic chemical wastes they had dumped 20 years earlier were now threatening the inhabitants of the town.
