Fed
up with gun violence, celebs hep take the Million Mom message to
Washington Standing among the hundreds of thousands who came to the
nation's capital on May 14 for the Million Mom March, Marilyn Williams
Crosland, 45, carried a photograph of her daughter Brooke, who was 18
when she was shot to death on a Washington, D.C., playground in 1998.
"It could happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere," said Crosland. Those
around her clearly agreed. Noting that more than 30,000 Americans die
each year from gun violence, emcee Rosie O'Donnell, actresses Susan
Sarandon, Lynda Carter and Reese Witherspoon, singer Emmylou Harris and
a host of other well-known women joined in calling for such gun controls
as mandatory trigger lc k's and national licensing. "There have been
enough lives los " said Sarandon, who brought daughter Eva, 15. "If we
can re late driving a car, we can regulate owning guns." |
