Producer Douglas Cramer said, "We'll get a
dark-haired girl who looks like the girl in the strip. She should be
built like a javelin-thrower, but with the sweet face of a Mary Tyler
Moore." There were a lot of jokes about the new Wonder Woman who would
have to look like a cross between Olga Korbut and Godzilla, but Cramer
was able to find just the girl he was looking for-and she looked nothing
like Godzilla. |
Ron Samuels is a brilliant
thirty-four-year-old manager whose specialty is getting good deals for
pretty actresses. Among his clients are Jennifer O'Neill, Lindsay
Wagner, Jaclyn Smith and of Course, Lynda Carter. Lynda considers her
husband an absolute genius in his field-and he well deserves the title.
Last year ABC aired eleven "Wonder Woman" shows. This year Samuels
convinced CBS to pick up the series for a full season of twenty-six
shows to be aired during prime time. He also got a good deal for "Bionic
Woman" Lindsay Wagner-a five million dollar, five-year contract. And for
Jaclyn Smith he got a giant salary increase and a TV movie. |
Ron knows he excels at what he does. "In all
modesty," he said, "I'm the best at what 1 do. I'm No. 1." And although
Samuel, is a tough critic, he also appreciates his wife's talents. "She
has a lot more dimension than you see on 'Wonder Woman,' " he boasted.
"She has an IQ of almost a genius and she is one of the best singers in
the world." Ron and Lynda met at the studio. tie asked Lvnda for a lunch
date and she asked if it was business or pleasure. Ron's intentions were
purely social, and he admired Lynda for her openness. The couple married
on May 28, 1977, and it's been a constant honeymoon. Ron showers his
wife with diamond jewelry he designs himself and a profusion of 'I love
you.' |
