THE NEW ADVENTURES OF WONDER WOMAN

At the end of last season, ABC cancelled Wonder Woman. CBS bought the series and has updated it from World War 11 America to 1977. The show's title is now The New Adventures of Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner star when a plane full of top secret scientists brought down on Paradise Island threatens to reveal the existence of her Amazon culture, and Wonder Woman is once again called upon to leave her Island home and join the fight for freedom: Lynda Carter portrays Wonder Woman, the legendary ageless heroine whose exploits during World War 11 helped make the world safe for freedom. Wonder Woman returns now in 1977 with an assumed identity as Diana Prince, assistant to Steve Trevor, Jr. at the Inter-Agency Defense Command.

     On a top-secret mission with scientists who will develop a nuclear power plant for underdeveloped countries, Trevor's flight is sabotaged by a henchman of international terrorist leader Dr. Solano (Fritz Weaver). Trevor's plane is brought down on Paradise Island. Wonder Woman discovers the plane and its occupants, among them Steve Trevor, Jr., whose likeness to his father recalls for her fond association with the major. Learning of the terrorist conspiracy which threatens this and other sensitive international projects, Wonder Woman convinces her mother, the Queen of the Amazons, that she must once again go into the outside world. Not only must Wonder Woman help protect the free world from its enemies, but in this age of radar, sonar, and laser scanning, to protect the secret of Paradise Island and its ancient culture.

     Beatrice Straight, who won an Oscar for her performance in Network and starred In CBS-TV's Beacon Hill a couple of seasons back, guest-stars as Wonder Woman's mother. Fritz Weaver guest-stars as Dr. Solano, head of an international terrorist conspiracy, and Jessica Walter guest-stars as his aide Gloria. Norman Burton plays Gerald Atkinson, who supervises Steve Trevor and Diana Prince at the Inter Agency Defense Command.

LYNDA CARTER (WONDER WOMAN / DIANA PRINCE)

Lynda Carter was born on July 24 in Phoenix, Arizona, the youngest of three children. At Arcadia Titans High School she was voted "most talented student," and while attending Arizona State University she decided to pursue a career In entertainment and began studying voice.

     Lynda was named Miss World-USA in 1973, and also began dramatic training that year with Stella Adler and Charles Conrad. Miss Carter is broadening her horizons by currently preparing a solo record album and developing a nightclub act for Las Vegas.

     Lynda is 5'8" tall, weighs 122 pounds, and has dark hair and blue eyes. On May 28, 1977, she and personal manager Ron Samuels were married. They live In Beverly Hills, California.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The special premiere episode of The New Adventures of Wonder Woman was directed by Alan Crosland from the script by Stephen Kendal (Kandel wrote Star Trek's Harry Mudd stories). Douglas S. Cramer and W.L. Baumes were executive producers of the series for the Douglas S. Cramer Company, in association with Warner Brothers Television. Charles B. Fitzsimmons is supervising producer, Mark Rogers is producer, Frank K. Telford is executive producer, and Brian McKay is story editor.
