But Lynda Carter is more than that. A former Miss World-U.S.A., best known for her role as Wonder Woman in the CBS-TV series, she has become an accomplished singer whose nightclub act has received rave reviews across the country. Although there are no further Wonder Woman specials planned, Lynda's natural talent and beauty keep her active on a variety of projects, and sometimes wishing she had more time to spend with her husband/manager Ron Samuels.
Her one-hour TV special, with guests Kenny Rogers and Leo Sayer, is scheduled, to be seen on CBS sometime in January. The success of her first record album (Portrait) has led her to begin, work on a second, presently untitled, which will be released in the spring.
Her much applauded debut at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas has shown that she is capable of much more than just filling out a Wonder Woman costume. This fall, she began shooting The Last Song, a three-hour TV drama to be aired on-CBS in the spring. Also in her plans is a trip to Europe next summer, where she will begin work on a feature film entitled The Shroud, a thriller centering around the Shroud of Turin.
This 26-year-old blue-eyed brunette has come a long way: from her first professional job as a teen-ager in Arizona (singing at the Pizza Inn in Scottsdale for $25 a weekend) to receiving the coveted Gold Poster Award for her Pro Arts Poster (on the cover of this issue) which is the best selling poster ever. She received even more acclaim recently, when the International, Academy of Beauty voted her the "Most Beautiful Woman in the World."
But don't take the Academy's word, a close look at these pages should enable you to decide for yourself.
