TV ALBUM Many of us would like to be something we're not - smarter, taller, superhuman in strength. All we can do is dream - and watch superhumans perform in Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, The Six Million Dollar Man, even the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise in Star Trek.
These people are always "In charge." They are not bound by the weaknesses of ordinary humans, but have been given great powers. And they use those powers to overcome evil. They have almost no limits. They are powerful and so they make us feel powerful too.
ZAP! goes Wonder Woman - the bad guys haven't a chance. WHACK! goes the Bionic Woman - down goes the steel door. CRASH! goes the Six Million Dollar Man, running at incredible speed toward a speeding car. If we can't do these things ourselves, we can at least enjoy watching the Super Heroes in action.
WONDER WOMAN
Lynda Carter was an awkward, gangly girl who turned into a beauty queen. Now she's the star of Wonder Woman. The series is based on a comic strip which first appeared in newspapers in 1942 and is still read in comic books sold around the world. Now, on TV, we can see our innocent-looking heorine turn into a powerful javelin-thrower after just one quick spin.
